Jake Lindheimer receives 2021 New Investigator Award

Congratulations to Dr. Jake Lindheimer for winning the 2021 New Investigator Award from the American College of Sports Medicine!

This award is intended to recognize new investigators who, as a consequence of their educational background/training and quality of initial independent research productivity, have begun and are likely to continue to make a significant contribution to knowledge in basic or clinical exercise science or sports medicine.

Jake is a federally funded Research Health Scientist at the Madison VA Medical Center and also holds Honorary Fellow positions in the UW-Madison Departments of Kinesiology and Medicine. When asked how it felt when he got the news, he replied “It’s an absolute pleasure to receive this award and I am honored to join the ranks of the many exceptional people who received it before me, including my mentor, Dr. Dane Cook, who won it in 2004. Importantly, I want to acknowledge the support I received from my family, mentors, study team members, and friends, as well as the incredible scientific environments at UW-Madison and the Madison VA Medical Center, all of which helped make this achievement possible”
