Special Project & Visiting Scholar Funding Application

If you plan to submit an application, a letter of intent is REQUIRED. Please fill out a letter of intent using the online form. Research Grants, Student & Sport clubs, Special Project & Visiting Scholars, and New Course Development require a letter of intent be submitted by JANUARY 15, 2022.

Special programs/Visiting scholar applications are intended for non-research or scholarly activities such as workshops that involve women or girls in dance or physical activity, performances involving students, outreach activities that represent the Wisconsin Idea. Funding may not be used for revenue generating activities or performances funded by private organizations outside the university.

Applications for special project & visiting scholar support must contain the following information:

  1. A cover page with the proposal title, name(s) of the Faculty/Staff Sponsor and address, phone number, fax number, and e-mail address for the contact person.
  2. A two-page proposal for the project. Within the two pages, the proposal must address:
    • How the proposed special project or visiting scholar activities relate to women’s physical education, movement, health, and the female body in culture. The potential impact of the project on women in general.
    • Purpose and activities of the proposed project and when and where they will occur.
    • Number of women involved in both planning and participating in the special project or the visiting scholar activities.
    • If appropriate, the plans for ongoing support of the project.
  3. Literature Cited (optional).
  4. A resume/curricula vitae for the Project Coordinator/Principal Investigator(s) (limited to a maximum length of 5 pages).
  5. Using the attached Excel spreadsheet, detail the budget for the project. Describe how the requested funds will enhance the activities of the special project. Include a brief justification for each item being requested. Note any other sources of funding that will be supporting the project or visiting scholar.
  6. If you have previously received support from this fund, you must provide a 1-2 page progress report for any projects still in process or a final report of the last project funded from this source within the last 4 years.

The committee may contact applicants for additional information or interviews.

All components of the application, except the Excel Spreadsheet, should be merged into 1 PDF document. Submit the PDF and the Excel Spreadsheets with the following format for naming the files: Lastname_YEAR(YYYY).pdf and Lastname_YEAR(YYYY).xls(x)

The Henry family has been a long time supporter to the School of Education. As such, we are exploring ways to highlight projects the grant supports. If your grant project is selected, will the Virginia Horne Henry fund support be acknowledged or highlighted? If so how?

All projects receiving support from this fund must notify the VHH Committee upon completion of the project and provide a 1 page final report within 60 days of completion. If you have an open project funded by VHH, please include a 1 page progress report with this application."
